Florence: Italy Trip • Part 7

17 06 27

Florence was the biggest surprise of our whole time in Italy. We didn't expect much really because we just knew so little about the city. During our short taxi from the train station to our Airbnb, we were already falling in love with this city and how much character it had (in an already character-ridden country) in such an unassuming place. Exploring the Duomo and nearby shops and squares was absolutely incredible. On the actual day of our 4th year wedding anniversary, we attended an authentic woodfired pizza cooking class in a restaurant that had been open for hundreds of years. We met some new friends that day and enjoyed our too-short time exploring the various neighbourhoods nearby where we were staying. Of all the places we went to, this is the one we most recommend not over-looking. On the surface it may not seem quite as grand as Venice or Rome, but in the flesh it might even outdo them in many ways.
