About St Clair
St Clair Community Church is a neighbourhood church in the lower city Hamilton, Ontario. The church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ by living as a family on mission in the Sherman neighbourhood, city of Hamilton, and rest of the world. As my home church, I’ve been involved in a number of branding and design-related projects for St Clair, including a redesign of their weekly liturgy that’s distributed on Sunday mornings, a branding of the St Clair Kids department, as well as various promotional postcards, posters, social media images, and more for special events that the church puts on annually. Every design is meant to feel unique, memorable, and professional without ever feeling out-of-reach for the average person. We never want the designs to feel too “churchy” as we exist for everyone; not just those who have an established faith. Many of these projects also need to be fairly flexible in their design principles so that the ability to reuse them is possible. Altogether, over the years, we’ve created a body of design work that reflects the church and its mission to invite the community of Hamilton to come as they are and explore their faith in an environment that feels less like a formal institution, and more like the comfort of a family.
